Privacy policy
Last updated: 25 September 2026
Who we are
TrailVu (trailvu.com) is run from the United Kingdom and is not a registered company. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean TrailVu.
The data controller for any personal data described here is Ben Brading. That means he decides how the data is used and is responsible for protecting it.
If you have any questions about this policy or your data, email us at contact@trailvu.com.
What information we collect
We do not ask you to create an account, and there are no forms on our website. We only collect personal data in two ways.
- When you email us. We receive your email address, your name if you include it, and anything you choose to write in your message.
- When you visit the website. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, automatically records basic technical information. This includes your IP address, browser type, the pages you requested and the time of your visit. We use it only to keep the site secure and working.
How we use it and why
We use your email only to read and reply to your message and to keep a record of our conversation. We will not add you to a mailing list or send you marketing without asking first.
Our legal basis under UK data protection law is legitimate interests. It is in our interest, and yours, that we can respond to people who contact us. Website log data is also processed under legitimate interests, to keep the site secure and running properly.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data or share it with anyone for marketing. Two service providers handle data on our behalf:
- Google, which stores our emails.
- Cloudflare, which hosts the website, keeps its logs and protects it against attacks.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep emails for up to 12 months after our last contact with you, unless we need them for longer for a legal reason. Website logs are kept only for Cloudflare's standard retention period and are then deleted automatically.
Cookies
Our website does not currently use cookies or tracking technologies. If this changes, we will update this policy and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong
- ask us to delete your data
- object to or ask us to limit how we use it
To use any of these rights, email contact@trailvu.com. We will respond within one month.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as TrailVu grows. The "last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed.
